Senators Stabenow and Levin Vote to Protect Public Health

To the disappointment of major polluters, today the U.S. Senate defeated Kentucky Senator Rand Paul’s bid to allow more soot and smog-forming pollution from power plants (SJ Res 27). Sen. Paul’s legislation would have put 1,405 lives at risk every year in Michigan alone. Senators Debbie Stabenow and Carl Levin stood up for public health and voted against this dangerous proposal.

First Ever U.S. Solar Jobs Census Shows Growth in Solar Workforce

Environment Michigan today released a new report from the Solar Foundation, a nonprofit solar education and research organization. The report found that Michigan has the 4th most solar related jobs in the country with an estimated 6,300 people employed by the solar industry.

Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore Under Threat from Underfunding

A new report, The Best of America Under Threat from Underfunding, released today by Environment Michigan showed that visitorship to Sleeping Bear Dunes National Lakeshore is on the rise. But even as Sleeping Bear Dunes draws more and more visitors, it could face budget cuts in the coming year- leaving it with fewer resources for maintenance, upkeep and stewardship.
